"do you remember the time?"

Okay so IF you keep up with my blog you would know that I've been iffy about my major in college lately. And I finally came to a conclusion from talking to one of my guy bestfriends about the whole situatuion. When I apply to schools at least two or three of them will be for a major in journalism. My mom may not think it's suitable or the "easy way out of life" but it's what I want to do. And I need to follow my dream, not my mom's. I still need to inform her on this and my dad. But at the end of the day, even though she's paying for my tuition, she has to understand that I want and NEED to do something with my life that I'm not going to end up regretting. Ugh! How I wish I was back in middle school and all I had to worry about was the upcoming MSA's!

tuesday!tuesday!tuesday!

You would think by the title I would be excited, but I'm more exhausted then tired!

Anyways, it's another beautiful Tuesday. The weather is makes me want to go out and take a walk around my neighborhood! My day was pretty great actually. I had an assembly for all juniors (woohoo 2010) about our class rings and our senior trip for next year. My two best friends and I decided we were all going to get the same ring with the same design and all and have something engraved on the inside (were still thinking about it). And instead of Cancun, are senior trip is going to be in the BAHAMAS! I'm so excited. I've never been to the Bahamas so hopefully my parents will let me go! Then for lunch, me and my friends helped this lady named Sarah have people sign this petition to stop using the R word. What's the R word? Retard. No that its right there. I never really knew how offensive it was until we got to these group of kids (they were acting like children) and they started shouting out all these ignorant stuff about the R word and mentally challenged people. Ugh! It made me sick, just goes to show you how kids our age can be. But I got a free t-shirt from volunteering which was pretty cool until I realized it was an extra large! Another goood thing to add to my day was that me and my friends were making all these plans for what were going to do together for spring break and for the summer. Typical of us, but today was more emotional for some reason.

So this is me (on the far left) and my two best friends, danayshia & elizabeth (love em) in the t-shirts.

Walking home, don't mind the face it's a "classic"

Some what better view of the t-shirt. It said something along the lines of "Spread the Word To Stop the Word". Can't remember what it said on the back

Oh yeah! It is Tuesday so...I guess I'll just let you know my top 5 favorite shows on tv right now (this is no order what so ever):
  1. Gossip Girl (Ed Westwick is beautiful!)
  2. One Tree Hill (Loved it from day 1)

  3. Taking the Stage (New to the MTV channel but I love how it shows ACTUAL high school drama)
  4. The City (Whitney Port! Nothing else needs to be said)
  5. Making the Band (This season is soooooo much drama, I think that's why I love it!)

Of course there's more not listed but these are the ones that I actually watch the night they come on! Unlike how I DVR all the other favorites!

missing?

no I'm not dead, in case you were wondering. I've been soooooo busy making up work and doing projects and very sick for the past couple of days =[. But by tomorrow I'll be back.

Now, I have to start this rough draft due in three days!

oh how time flies

yes I realize it's tuesday but my mood is down the pipes so I'll make up for it next week

So yesterday during Gossip Girl my mom was asking me about colleges I'm intrested in and stuff. My instant reply was "I have more than enough time to think about that". Wrong. I'm a junior, all I have is now and till applications are due for colleges. And I have no clue what I want to do. That's a lie. I do, but it's a hard choice. See ever since I was little I've wanted to write, books or for a magazine. But since my mom is a nurse I did the "follow in mommy's footsteps thing" and threw away my writing dream and started think of what I wanted to do dealing with the medical field. Surgeon. So I've working my butt off in high school to make sure my grades are good for a GREAT medical school. But all of a sudden, I start realizing this isn't my dream. It's my mom's. What I really want to do is either write for a magazine or be a fashion director for one (yeah I know, I'll be interning my ass off). So for the past six months I've been looking at art schools and all the art majors for other schools I was interested in and I realized looking at all that stuff excites me! More than looking at doctor stuff. And I want to do MY dream but I hate to crush my mom's. She's so stuck on me wanting to be a doctor and my sister being an actor (she gets her dream and she's only five). I don't know, maybe I'll talk to my dad about this first since he's the more relaxed and understanding one.
I'll let you know how it goes

Chanel: Fall 2009

A little DIY never hurt anyone

Last night, while watching a favorie, The Women, and reading a favorite, Teen Vogue, I decided I would do a DIY (I hadn't done one in awhile so I said "hey why not tonight).

First on the list was one of my mom's old sweaters (hopefully she doesn't notice!). I cut right down the middle, sewed up the edges, added a cute little button and created a navy blue cardigan:Sorry for the poor quality of the picture, it was taking on my blackberry. But there's still more altering to do. When I'm done, I'll post it up

Another DIY I did last night was with this skirt. I bought from Tj Maxx over a year ago. It was one of those long bohemian skirts that could be worn as a dress as well. I only wore it twice, both times as a dress. I've been saying since january that I was going to hem it so that I could finally wear it as a skirt, here are the results:
I haven't decided what to wear it with, but when I put it on it's to adorable! When I actually wear it I'll make sure to post it up here.

"I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date"

I think that's what the little rabbit says on Alice in Wonderland

Well first off, this is what I wore on friday to school, wish I could remember if it was a good or bad day. I would have had this up on friday but it slipped my mind... This is my mom's sweater which is now mine =]. There's a tank top underneath and some black skinnes. I believe I wore my steve madden (beat up) moccasins. And the briefcase that I metioned in a preivous post would be Lenny (yes I named him)

And yes I did restyle my bangs and I love it (sorry for the bluriness)

"it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood"

You would think today was going to be sunny and warm outside, but it's the complete opposite. It's cold, windy, and depressing. Yeah the sun may come from behind the clothes ever so often, it's still too unhappy outside for me to do anything today besides eat Three Brothers' Pizza and watch a whole bunch of dvds.

On a better note, Spring is coming and I need to start my version of spring cleaning. Which means cleaning out my closet and putting all my winter clothes into a bin and filling my closet back up with all my spring finds. I haven't decided where I'm going shopping but I know it will all be happen, most likely, during spring break (two weeks needs to go by quick!). Something that I really want is a boyfriend blazer. I think they make any outfit (if you know how wear it) look classy or even edgy. I really want a light grey one so I can wear it when its warm out and not feel like the sun is beating down on me or not feel like my skin was burning off in a black blazer (even though I want one come fall or one in navy blue).

I either want something like this (but in grey):

This one is from topshop.com and it's like $110.00 (too much for a blazer)

Or like this one:

This one was on shopbop.com by SMYTHE and cost $530.00 (way too much)

So my best bet is finding one at Urban Outfitters or H&M that I like but for a better price (nothing over $80). I was also thinking about finding onen at a thirft store (since prices aren't a problem there). But I would have to find a good thirfting place. Anywho, I'm super excited about the search for my perfect boyfriend blazer and warmer weather!

"making life size models of the velvet underground in pain"

So, today wasn't good at all. Of course I expected it. I got my progress report which really upset me. Like I almost cried. Here's where I'm currently at (I hope their all going up though):

Algebra-B (not what I want but can be changed)
French 2- C (deffinitley will be improved)
General Business- B (what I expected)
African American Studies- B (haad an A and it dropped but I loathe that class so whatever, I'm still bringing it up)
English 11- C (ugh, This is what pissed me off, all that work for a C?)
Fashion Design 2- B (not what I expected but VERY east to bring up)
World History- B (NEVER expected this but it can be changed)
Chemistry- A (so excited to see all that work and studying FINALLY paid off)

Now some may say this is "great" and others may say "wtf, this sucks". And I agree, it does suck! But I have two weeks and these grades WILL be all brought up. Oh, and today I decided anytime I leave a post I'll go ahead and tell you what I wore (if i can remember to do so). So today I wore some grey skinnys, black and stripped cardigan, white wifebeater underneath (wasn't seen because my cardigan resembled a sweater today), and my steve madden mocassins. Pretty chill just because I knew it was going to rain.

oh how I wish I lived in Paris

So I could see the frech version of Coco Chanel with Audrey Tautou. But the lifetime version will have to do

well it's tuesday, but not the morning

So my blog is called maybe tuesday morning. Why? Well, my favorite day of the week happens to be tuesday (not to sure why) and I guess I like the mornings on rare occassions. But anywho, I was thinking that maybe I should like some tuesday special thing. What that maybe, I don't know. Here's what I was thinking:
  1. Info on my favorite designers (yes I do love more than Philip Lim)
  2. Five favorite songs of the moment
  3. Interesting fact about me
  4. Movie review (not one of the boring ones. and it will be on ANY MOVIE; old and new)
  5. Stores to indulge in (with the economy these days, it's time us young ones find a better way to spend our cash)

And thats all I got so far! I was thinking I could mix it up every week so it's not too boring. But for this week I'm doing some little survey I found on one of my favorite fashion blogs called Only Shallow (http://ambugaton.blogspot.com/). So here it goes:

  • What’s your name: Jehlisa
Where do you live: good ol' Maryland
    When were you born: ...Maryland
Describe yourself with three words: shy, creative, & stubborn
What does fashion mean to you: it may sound corney but it's art to me. just like a painting, people express themselves with what they are wearing. they may not see it as fashion or better yet style, but it's their own style
What are your favorite stores or boutiques: hmm urban outfitters, h&m, tj maxx, topshop, pac sun, american apparel, delias, alloy, old navy, gap and that's all I can think of
Do you shop second hand clothes: I haven't but I am more than willing too
Best things about dressing up for fall: cardigans, dark colors, weird hats, pea coats, scarves & mittens
How much money do you spend on clothes per month: per month, probably no more than $150 (bargain shopper)
What is the most expensive piece of clothing you’ve ever purchased? And the cheapest: most expensive are my slouchy flat boots that I dont wear enough and the cheapest is probably the white shirt I got the other day
High or low Heels: how about no heels. flats
What is your dream purse: one of the classic chanel bags with the long chains (only, unlike most people at my school I want a real one)
What is going to be your next purchase: anything for spring or the twilight movie
Any fave-blogs: there's too many to list
Who is your fashion icon: zooey deschanel, daisy lowe, rachel bilson, whitney port, mary kate olsen
Do you want to work in the fashion industry in the future: I've always wanted to either own my own fashion magazine or work for one as the fashion director. but more than likely I will be an orthopedic surgeon or a plastic surgeon (I love everything about being a doctor and possibly saving somebodies life)
Favorite pieces in your wardrobe right now: black cardigan (as always), lace up oxfords, flannel button up and floral print shirt
And favorite accessories: my briefcase purse and silver studs

MTV is my ADDICTION

I practically watch anything and everything that comes on that channel. And something I've been ga ga over is The City. I loved Laguna Beach, fell madly in love with The Hills (Lauren Conrad is a doll), and now I am head over heels for The City. For those of you who are living under a ROCK The City is Whitney Port's (previously on The Hills) spin off reality show to The Hills. It's about her moving to New York to work for none other than the great (in my eyes) Diane Von Furstenberg. She first moved in with her long time friend Erin, until finding her own apartment. She even found a hot AUSTRALIAN boyfriend. At her job, she works along side Olivia (who is the devil in women form). But ANYWAYS, last nights episode (aired March 16, 2009) almost made me want to yank Allie (one of Whitney's friends) out of the tv screen. Yes Adam is hot, but sweetie he's playing you seriously! It's so sad. It's like another Hedi and Spencer situation only more fashionable, more beautiful, and more loveable. Poor Allie. What I really wanted to get into was when Diane came in and told Whitney the best advice a person can give you and from now on I'm going to go by that advice "The most important relationship you have in your life, is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens you will always be with yourself". That is so true! Girls my age need to go by that qoute and stick to it! I think it made Whitney realize she needs to do what it is she came to New York to do. Even though I was sad when she left Jay, I'm happy she realized that she needs to be more focused on her dream and making it come true.

this was actuall yesterday

and it would have been posted yesterday but I had to watch Gossip Girl (finally came back!). but I've gotten a head start on my spring shopping. I've been telling my mom for weeks now that it's time to get clothes for the warmer weather so I'm not walking around in thick cardigans (that I happen to love). So she finally caved in and I got to do a little pre-shopping for spring. I went to Tj Maxx which hasn't been doing so great these last couple of months with what's being sold in their store. So you can just image how excited I was when I walked in there and saw RACKS full of clothing. I soooo badly wanted to get all the scarves on the racks but considering my mom thinks scarves are only a winter accessory, I said forget it. I was on a budget so I didn't get much (plus, all my spring shopping will be done during spring break. I just need to find a less popular GOOD mall and GOOD thirft stores).
Here is the stuff I picked up (sorry if its a little dark, camera phone picture):

1.Floral Print Sheer Shirt $14.99
2. Black & White Striped Quarter Length Sleeve Cardigan $10.00
3.Black Long Loose Tank Top $12.99
4.Plain White V-Neck $5.99
5.Black Gladiator Sandals $34.99
6.Color Wallet/Change Purse $7.99

cloudy days call for dark clothes

During my third period class today (fashion design) my friend decided to point out (as she always does) that I never way bright colors. And I never really noticed it until I thought about my last couple of outfits, and she's right! Color never really catches my eye like it does with certain people. Unless it's a floral pattern, I won't even look at it! But ironicly enough, I can't wait till spring to wear pastel colors (and plus my birthday is in spring as well). Maybe one day I'll find something in pink (god forbid I do!) and actually like it!

Oh, and this is what I'm looking these days. I re-cut my bangs so I could get the thicker look like Erin off of MTV's The City. I've gotten a lot of complements, but I'm still a little skeptical about them. Maybe I'll re-style them in a different way tomorrow and see how I feel about them

Heres what the shirt looked like by itself(i cut the sleeves off of it because it looked weird if you asked me)

ebay is love

I've never bought anything off of ebay just because I never knew what was really on there and if I would even like it. One of my friends told me it's basically like a thirft store online, only you have to bid for what you want! So I said, "What the heck, I'll check it out". And boy was I happy when I found these cute vintage lace up oxfords. I was uber excited when I finally got them in the mail (only having to wait for three days for them to be shipped). There super comfortable and I can practically where them with almost anything. Only problem I've had to encounter with them was having to tie the shoelaces (none of the shoes that I wear have laces in them). But aside from the shoelaces, these shoes have become my second love (after my briefcase-like purse I purchased at Urban Outfitters)

I love this record baby, but I can't see straight anymore.

I was never really excited about Lady Gaga when she first came out. But after awhile i realized i loved all her songs (album is in stores, buy it!). and I didn't realize until an hour ago that there was a video for Just Dance (I rarely watch music videos so I have no clue how long this one has been out). Anywho the point I'm trying to make is that I'm head over heels in love with Lady Gaga. Her style reminds me of what you would find on Balmin's fall 2009 runway but with her on twist. She's a prime example of a women who is willing to take a risk no matter what the critics say about her. Go Gaga!

Philip Lim (2009 Spring)

happens to be my FAVORITE designer. If there was anybody who I could walk for (thats saying if I had a models look and figure)it would be between him and Marc Jacobs. But as for now it's all Philip Lim (yes I know, kind of late for spring collections but its my favorite spring collection of 09)

The Begining of a New Book

Bonjour fellow bloggers!
This is actually my second blog. From my horrible forgetfullness I couldn't remember the password and I was never on it my first blog is non-exsisting unless you go and find it (due to the fact that i can't seem to stay committed to anything that I start). But that's besides the point. This blog of mine will probably be my online fashion/entertainment diary until I can find something else to catch my attention. I don't expect you to come here everyday you check your facebook or your myspace but it would be nice to make a pit stop just for a minute and see what is on here. because at the end of the day, isn't the point of a blog for the viewers? anywho, I do hope you enjoy and don't be shy about leaving a comment or whatever it is that you feel you need to leave
toodles =]
